During my many years as a university professor I routinely suggested books and articles that my students might read over the summer to prepare them for the upcoming school year. Early on, I learned that my taste in summer reading was not necessarily the same as others.

Reading is a very important part of learning a language. It's considered a receptive skill, otherwise known as a passive skill, which means that students don't necessarily have to produce language – just receive it. But more often than not, students have difficulty reading because of vocabulary and/or the context involved.

Students work independently to develop critical reading and language skills through individualized, motivating learning paths.
